Lee is a Social Worker, Systemic Family Psychotherapist and supervisor with over 20 years of experience working with children and their families across Local Authority Children and Family services, NHS Children and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHs) and through independent practice and consultancy.
Lee has delivered training in Universities and Local Authority services across the country to social workers, clinicians and various types of clinical trainees. He has led social work and clinical teams, as well as an innovation project where he co-developed a model for working with couples and families where there were forms of violence and abuse.
Lee currently works in an inner London Local Authority Children’s services supporting social work practice and undertakes independent practice in Norfolk. Since re-locating to Norfolk in 2022 much of Lee’s independent work has centred on work with parents and families where neurodiversity is a contributing factor to how the family work and manage together.
To do this Lee integrates systemic ideas alongside the Non-Violent Resistance approach to parenting – this is an approach to support adaptation in the practice of parenting, through identifying and working with factors that might effect change. This approach is increasingly recognised as an effective way to support change in families where behaviour, often directed by children towards their parents, may be complex, challenging, aggressive or violent.
