At Psychiatry Norfolk, we offer two complementary pathways that can be accessed independently or combined to provide integrated care.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Led by Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr James Fox, this pathway provides specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and neurodevelopmental difficulties.
Areas of expertise include:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Emotional dysregulation
- Emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Anxiety and mood disorders including OCD
Assessments are thorough and formulation-led, considering the child’s development, family relationships, school experience, and wider environment. Medication is rarely provided as a standalone treatment; if a pharmacological intervention is recommended, it is typically only initiated alongside active or co-occurring psychological therapy. An onward referral to experienced psychologists can be offered if clinically indicated.
ADHD Coaching and Neurodevelopmental Support
Our ADHD coaching pathway is led by the experienced neurodevelopmental specialist Eleanor Lever, with a background in psychology, education and special educational needs. Combining expertise gained through leadership in specialist schools, neurodevelopmental assessment services and executive functioning coaching, this service provides practical, evidence-informed support for children, young people and their families.
Coaching is designed to help children and parents understand how ADHD affects everyday life and develop realistic strategies to improve organisation, emotional regulation, motivation, independence and family life. Support is tailored to each child and can also address executive functioning difficulties, school challenges, routines, sensory differences and confidence.
Working Together
Many children benefit from both specialist psychiatric care and ADHD coaching. When appropriate, our clinicians work collaboratively to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care. This approach combines comprehensive medical assessment with practical, ongoing support, ensuring recommendations are translated into meaningful changes at home, at school and in everyday life.
